CapTran ("CapTran," "we," "us," or "the App") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use CapTran on iPhone or iPad.
When you actively start a system screen broadcast and select CapTran, CapTran reads only the app audio provided by ReplayKit from the other app. It uses that audio on your device for speech recognition, translation, and caption display. CapTran does not upload that audio, recognized text, or translated text to a CapTran-operated server. Original broadcast audio is used temporarily during the session and cleared when the session ends. Temporary recognition results are not saved to caption history.
You may choose a video or audio file from Files or a video from Photos for on-device transcription and time-coded captions. CapTran processes only the item you select and does not scan or upload your entire Files or Photos library. To support later playback and transcription, a copy of imported media may be stored in the App's local storage until you delete the related transcription record or uninstall the App.
Final caption segments, original text, translated text, timestamps, session titles, language selections, caption settings, and transcription status are stored on your device. You can view, rename, and delete caption history and transcription records in the App. CapTran does not provide user accounts and does not sync this content to the cloud.
Your free-trial usage and verified full-access status are stored in the device Keychain to maintain trial limits and an offline entitlement cache. Purchases, subscriptions, restore purchases, and offer-code redemption are handled through Apple's App Store and StoreKit. CapTran does not receive or store your payment card number, bank account details, or Apple ID password. Apple may process transaction information under Apple's own privacy policy.
In the current version, CapTran does not operate a server for receiving user content and does not use advertising, third-party analytics SDKs, cross-app tracking, account sign-in, or cloud synchronization. We therefore do not create a profile about you for advertising or analytics purposes.
CapTran does not currently use microphone input mode and does not record live broadcast audio. Apple or your operating system may provide crash reports, diagnostics, or App Store services according to your system settings; those activities are handled by Apple under its applicable terms and privacy policies.
You can manage these permissions in iOS or iPadOS Settings. Refusing a permission may prevent the related feature from working.
Your device may need a network connection the first time it prepares or updates on-device speech-recognition and translation models. CapTran also uses Apple's App Store services to load products and verify purchase entitlements. Other than these system services, CapTran does not send your audio, captions, or imported media to third-party processing services.
Apple's speech recognition, translation, Photos, Files, and App Store services are provided independently by Apple and may be subject to Apple's own privacy policy.
Because the current version has no CapTran account system or cloud content store, CapTran generally does not hold a server-side copy of your captions or media that can be deleted from our servers. Contact us using the email below if you believe further action is needed.
CapTran uses the iOS app sandbox, SwiftData, local app storage, and Keychain to protect locally stored information and to limit retention. No device storage or network transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure. Please protect your device with a passcode and keep your operating system and App up to date.
CapTran is not directed to children and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us using the email below.
You can choose whether to grant permissions, delete on-device caption history and transcription records, stop a screen broadcast, and manage App permissions through device settings. Depending on applicable law, you may also have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to the processing of personal information. Because CapTran does not currently maintain user accounts or a cloud content database, the scope of our ability to respond is primarily limited to local App features and messages you send to us.
We may update this Privacy Policy when CapTran's data practices, features, or applicable laws change. We will publish the updated version on this page and identify its effective date through the “Last updated” date. If we later add servers, accounts, analytics, advertising, or cloud synchronization, we will update this policy before or when those features become available.
